A three day trip to Andasibe National Park is one of the best short wildlife escapes from Antananarivo. The park is about 150 km east of the capital, and most travelers allow around four hours by road depending on traffic and stops. The main highlights are the Indri indri lemurs, rainforest walks, birds, chameleons, and guided night walks.

A trip to the east of Madagascar is one of the best ways to experience the island's rainforests, wildlife, beaches, and canal of mpangalane landscapes. The eastern region is much greener and wetter than the rest of the country, with a mix of national parks and coastal towns.

This is one of the classic routes in eastern Madagascar and works very well. A comfortable itinerary would be 8 days, allowing enough time to enjoy the wildlife, beaches, and the ferry crossing to Sainte Marie.
