BERENTY RESERVE GUIDED WALKS - SIFAKA LEMURS .
TOUR ROUTES :
Fly from Tana or tulear to fort dauphin then take 4wd with driver to berenty reserve and return to fort dauphin
Day 1 : FLY FROM ANTANANARIVO OR TULEAR TO FORT DAUPHIN .
Fly from Antananarivo or Tulear to Fort Dauphin. Then Take a 4WD (four wheel drive) with driver ,from Fort Dauphin's airport to Berenty Reserve . Berenty Reserve was created half a century ago by the d'Heaulme family as a private park; in the last twenty years it has been turned into a nature reserve cum hotel. It is the easiest way to see Lemur catta (ring tailed lemurs) and Propithecus verreauxi (Verreaux sifaka) in the wild. Bordering the Mandrare river, is a small patch (100 hectares) of gallery forest in the middle of what used to be spiny forest and is now mostly sisal fields. The reserve is home to 5 species of lemurs, flying foxes (a large fruit bat) and 96 bird species .
After you have unpacked and rested in the bungalow style lodge, you can go on a guided night walk. This is a really unique way of exploring the many nocturnal wonders of the forest, which would not be visible during the day.

Day 2 : EXPLORING BERENTY RESERVE WITH A LOCAL GUIDE .
This is quiet reserve hidden in the jungle. A guide will take you on a walk around the reserve, pointing out many things you would otherwise miss, including many species of beautiful mammals and insects.

There are also giant birds, pill bugs, crocodiles, geckos, frogs and several types of chameleon. You can learn about the reserve`s breeding program, having the opportunity to touch and interact with many of the smaller species .

Day 3 : 4WD FROM BERENTY BACK TO FORT DAUPHIN.
Depart Berenty reserve in the morning, after breakfast then onto Fort Dauphin. We stop on the way at the spiny forest, for a closer look at this hardy ecosystem.

Day 4 : FLY FROM FORT DAUPHIN TO TANA OR TULEAR.
Transfer from the hotel to the airport and then fly from Fort Dauphin to Antananarivo or Tulear.
